Welcome

Welcome to Rye Hills School...

Being organised will help you to get the most from your time at Rye Hills School. You should always attend in full school uniform; bring a school bag containing the necessary books and kit: a pencil case, diary and dinner card or packed lunch. Listen carefully to notices that are read out during tutor time and record any important information in your diary.

The School Day:

8.20                           School doors open

8.35 – 9.00                Registration

9.00 – 10.00              Period 1

10.00 – 11.00            Period 2

11.00 – 11.20            Break

11.20 – 12.20            Period 3

12.20 – 1.15              Lunch

1.15 – 2.15                Period 4

2.15 – 3.15                Period 5

Getting to registration on time is very important. You must be in your form room by 8.35am. Failure to do so will result in a late mark and this means you will need to attend a 10 minute late detention with your tutor. It is also very important that you attend period 4 on time as this is when you receive your present mark for the afternoon session. Late marks for period 4 also go on your school record. Future employers will look very carefully at your timekeeping before offering you a job. Good timekeeping shows that you are reliable. Would you employ someone that is regularly late?

Break service is offered in the dining hall on most days. This is your opportunity to have a morning snack and drink to keep you going until lunchtime. Don’t forget that buying things at break time will reduce the money you have on your dinner card. If you’re having a full school meal you will need to have £2.15 on your card.

The lunch order is done on a rota basis and changes every week. Y11s are always first into lunch along with students who have an early lunch pass from a teacher. The remaining year groups follow in the order that is published daily on the daysheet. Ask your tutor if you want to know the lunch order. Students that want to work or attend clubs during lunchtime must get a pass sorted in advance. If you do not have a pass then you are not allowed in the building.

After school and at lunchtime there are many extra clubs and support groups. Listen carefully to your form notices and keep an eye on the website to find out more information about these extra-curricular activities.

If you have any questions or queries during the school day please ask: your tutor, favourite teacher, College Pastoral Leader or College Pastoral Mentor will be more than happy to help you out.

Finally, don’t forget Youth Group on a Friday evening between 6pm and 9pm. See the relevant section on the website for more information.

We are very pleased to be welcoming you to Rye Hills School and we hope you enjoy your time with us.
