Single Positive COVID Case - Year 8

Important Message for Year 8:

Positive COVID case in Year 8 – single case.

This morning, we were made aware of 1 student in Year 8 who has tested positive for Covid-19. This child was not in the academy on Tuesday 10th November. You will appreciate we are unable to share any detailed information, and ask that families are thoughtful about this, particularly on social media.

Having sought advice from Public Health England, we have then conducted prolonged close contact tracing during the morning and have sent home the students who have been identified as close contacts. These students need to self-isolate up to and including Monday 23rd November and can return to school on Tues 24th November.

The priority this morning was to ensure the correct children were sent home. During the course of the day if your child is required to self-isolate you will receive a letter by email to confirm the information already shared.

I would like to reassure you that we have taken all reasonable infection and prevention control measures and have discussed the cases with Public Health and the Local Authority over the last couple of hours.

Many thanks again to the students who have behaved very sensibly throughout this morning’s contact tracing.

Thank you for your support and understanding,

Mrs Waugh
