Year 10 Making Opportunities Day

On Friday 15th March, Year 10 attended a Making Opportunities Day at Redcar & Cleveland College. Students were asked to dress smartly for an interview and to bring along a CV and cover letter that they had prepared prior to the event. We are very impressed with the effort students made with their appearance at the event, they all looked very professional.

The day consisted of seven 30 minute workshops: these were led by Sirius Minerals who talked about their company, the work they are doing locally and apprenticeships available, Job Centre Plus who shared valuable labour market information, Thirteen Housing with information about the wide range of careers and apprenticeships they offer, Redcar & Cleveland College who ran a session on apprenticeships and another on interview skills, Foundation for Jobs who explained all students needed to know about CV Writing and Teesside University ambassadors talked about higher education and student life. Students also had a mock interview.

Well done Year 10 you really made the most of the day, you put in a great deal of effort and we received lots of positive feedback and compliments on your behaviour and how polite you were from staff at the college as well as providers who ran sessions and mock interviews. You should be very proud of yourselves.

If you would like to find out more about any of the information your recieved at the event please see the careers officer.
