Student Voted Deputy Member of Youth Parliament for Redcar & Cleveland

Congratulations to Head Boy Jack Winstanley who was voted as the Deputy Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) for Redcar & Cleveland with over 1000 votes.

Well done to Maddie Everitt and Josie Sweeney were also nominated but not elected.

Once elected MYPs meet with MPs and local councillors, organise events, run campaigns, make speeches, hold debates and ensure the views of young people are listened to by decision makers.

The most important aspect of any MYP’s job is to make sure they represent the views of the young people in their constituency.

During their term of office, MYPs work with their MPs, decision makers, councillors and local youth groups on the issues of greatest concern to their constituents.
