Year 9 Options Group Work with Foundation for Jobs

In preparation for selecting their KS4 Options, Year 9 students attended an hour of group work led by careers advisers from Foundation for Jobs (FFJ). Students were introduced to FFJ and given lots of impartial information about choosing subjects as well as the possible career pathways each subject can lead to.

When choosing your Options students should consider the following:

1. What you are interested in,

2. Your strengths,

3. Your abilities.

Your career ideas may change between Year 9 and Year 13, but your interests, strengths and abilities will remain the same.

Students took part in a number of activities and discussed in groups, and with the careers adviser, reasons for making subject choices and options subjects relating to careers and job roles. They then took part in a 'buzz quiz' which helped them to understand their own personality and how they like to work. You can sample this quiz here.

Matt and Julie from FFJ are in school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, students can pop in to speak to them during break times.
