Careers

Welcome to Careers at Rye Hills

Our Careers Officer, Miss Smith, is available to students in the school library/careers library throughout each day, for on hand, accessible advice and guidance.

As part of the schools careers provision, students also have access to services provided by Routes to Employment (soon to be Foundation For Jobs) who offer high standard, independent, bespoke guidance to every student throughout Year 11. Routes to Employment also provide various Year Group assemblies for pupils including to Year 9 to offer advice about their KS4 Options. Year 9 Careers Advice Drop-In sessions will also be available.

Students also have access to a wide variety of careers based literature in the careers library. Prospectuses from all of the local colleges (Prior Pursglove, Redcar & Cleveland, CCAD, Middlesbrough, Askham Bryan and Stockton Riverside) are always available for students to take away with them alongside an array of vocational literature detailing routes through apprenticeships and traineeships. Prospectuses from universities across the country are also available.

Over the course of the year there will be assemblies, drop in sessions, workshops etc... by representatives from our local colleges/ universities, apprenticeship/traineeship providers etc... on a wide range of careers and courses.

Routes to Employment and local colleges will attend Year 9 Options and KS4 Parents' Evening to provide students and their parents/ carers with information regarding their Post 16 options.

Careers at Rye Hills offer access to a huge range of online advice and guidance, links to which can be accessed via this website and through the Careers at Rye Hills Facebook page. The careers library has boasts “The Inspiration Station” which allows students to access web based careers activities and guidance and which also allows students to create letters of application and CVs with the direct help of Miss Smith.

Students of any year group, with any form of question or query regarding careers, should come along to the careers office, based in the careers library, during form, at break, at lunch or after school, where Miss Smith will be happy to help.
