Year 11 Leavers

Goodbye and Good Luck Year 11! (Update 30/06/20)

Well Year 11, this is it! You have officially left Rye Hills Academy. We are proud of all of you. Over the past five years we have watched you all grow and mature as individuals, transforming into adults before our very eyes. You have accomplished many things during your time at Rye Hills Academy and we have no doubt that you will all go on to accomplish fantastic things now you have left.
We are proud of the strength you have shown in handling this very peculiar situation and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you all. We will miss you.

Thank you, Class of 2020.

Miss Lappin has collected messages from your teachers and created a video for you. This is available to view now in the English Google classroom, which most of you have already joined. If you have not joined yet, the code is 7duxlcz.

Year 11 Update Regarding Summer 2020 Exam Grading

Letter to Students about Summer Grading 2020

Prom 2020 (Update 13/05/20)

I hope that you and your family are well.

It is with huge disappointment that I write to inform you that the Prom has today been cancelled by Rushpool Hall. This is to ensure that they comply with the most recent government advice for these kinds of venues and events. As with all pre-booked events at this time, we were unable to make any announcement until given formal notice by the venue.

It is still our intention to hold a celebration event for the year group. If the situation changes and prom can be rescheduled we will try to do this, but with so much uncertainty in all aspects of life, we cannot make any plans at the moment.

Over the next week or so you will receive an email from Mrs Marshall, the Exam Officer, with your child’s statement of entry for their GCSE exams. It is essential that this is checked very carefully, as any errors will appear on GCSE certificates if left uncorrected.

Remember that there are resources available on Google Classroom to support transition to further education and many colleges are also offering bridging materials. If we can offer any further support, please do get in touch, the Year 11 students are still very much a part of Rye Hills Academy and their teachers are really missing them.

Miss C. Lappin

Google Classroom Resources

Teachers have gathered together resources which might be of interest to you if you are thinking of continuing a subject next year or if you just want to challenge yourself in a particular subject. These resources are on Google Classroom in the same groups that you signed up to before the Academy closed. If you didn’t join and now want to, the links can be found on the school website (link below).

Just because you are not doing your GCSEs this year, it doesn’t mean we have forgotten about you. Please keep monitoring the Facebook page as we will be posting links which will be relevant to you.

Next Steps

If you are worried about your next steps in light of the current uncertainty, we have created an email address for you to use so that we can offer you the support you need. This email address is nextsteps@ryehills.rac.sch.uk and we will endeavour to support you with worries you might have about leaving Rye Hills and your next steps.

NCS Summer Programme 2020

To our NCS Community, we hope you’re all staying safe and indoors:

Thank you for your patience while we’ve been working with the government and our partners regarding coronavirus. We’ve made the difficult decision to repurpose our summer 2020 programme. We know this news will be very disappointing but we must focus on helping the containment of coronavirus and safeguarding the health of everyone. Refund options will be offered to all participants who have signed up for the Summer 2020 programme to date.

The good news is we’re working to create an alternate free NCS Summer 2020 experience. Launching soon: Staying Connected, our digital hub focusing on skills and life lessons not learnt in the classroom. This will be followed by Keep Doing Good, a volunteer programme to help the country get back on its feet once lockdown has been lifted.

Moving forward: If you’ve signed up for NCS this summer you’ve got the option to 1) Receive a full refund. 2) Donate your fee to The Mix. 3) Transfer to Autumn Programme 2020. 4) Transfer to Summer Programme 2021. You don’t need to do anything for the moment, we will be in touch in the next few weeks about selecting the right eligible option for you.

Now, more than ever, it is imperative for us to adopt our No We Can attitude and make this summer one to remember by moving forward in unison and fuelling the nation's recovery.
