Tees Valley Music Service

Tees Valley Music rehearsals take place at Rye Hills School on Mondays during term time for the following instruments: 

  • Upper Strings

February 2016: Pupils were chosen to perfom when HRH The Prince of Wales visited Redcar on Wednesday 17th February to see how the community and former SSI workers have been supported in the wake of the steel crisis. More Information here.

December 2015: On the final day of term the Music Department ran a Christmas sing along for each College.

November 2015: On 4th November the Music Department provided the music for the Year 11 Celebration of Achievements Evening. they performed in front of ex students, parents, staff, governors and the guest speak Naomi Riches MBE.

2014-2015 Musical Achievements: Last academic year Lara Picknett and Katie Brunell (Year 7 students) achieved merit at Grade 2 on cello. Jack Hutchinson and Daniel Wall (Year 10)  achieved achieved grade 3 on baritone. Daniel Rogan and Matthew Bloom (Year 10) achieved grade 4 on guitar. Olivia Robinson (Year 11) achieved grade 5 on piano.

July 2015: On Wednesday 8th July, 10 KS3 students performed a concert at Inglewood Care Home and then travelled to Rueben Manor Care Home on Thursday 9th July to perform there too.

June 2015: In the summer term on Thursday 25th June, students presented a fundraising concert for MENortheast to raise awareness of the condition and  to support a year 10 sufferer who is currently absent from school. The department raised nearly £400 for the charity.

February 2014: Year 10 Musicians provided the entertainment for guests from Shoreline Nursing Home.
