GCSE Design and Technology: Product Design

The GCSE Product Design course encourages students to design and make products with creativity and originality, using a range of materials such as paper/card, timber, plastics etc. Candidates will also develop a variety of techniques for working with these materials.

The course follows the AQA Examinations Board specification.

Assessment is by Controlled Assessment (Coursework) 60% and an Examination (40%) taken at the end of Year 11.

The Year 10 course prepares students for the final Controlled Assessment Task through a series of ‘mini’ assignments. Lessons are a mixture of theoretical, design and practical work.

Homework is essential and much is based on the use of a Revision Guide and Workbook which all students are provided with.
